Ramen failure.

While visiting blackflag669, I found a new version of Mi Goreng ramen. "Mama" brand Mi Goreng, from Thailand. After the Malayian Mi Goreng, and the Indonesian Indomie, I was curious.

And ultimately, disappointed.

The "fried noodle" Mi goreng is really quite good, and is not a soup.

Okay, how many people here have had IndoMie, (IMHO, the world's most addictive Ramen.)?

I first encountered IndoMie when they were selling US branded packages in stores like Vons and Ralphs. I soon became addicted to their chicken stir-fry flavour, (in which you drain the water and add the seasonings and whatever else to the noodles themselves, making a stir-fry like dish that's really quite good.) Their other favours were also very good.

But then they withdrew from the US market. When I found out, I bought all of my favourite flavours I could, but had to eventually face the day when those ran out.

About a year and a half ago, remembering IndoMie, I did a Google search for IndoMie. Not only did I run across a good review of IndoMie, but much to my delight, I found some on-line stores that carried it. These weren't the US flavours, but the regular import flavours that are usually more intense or hotter than the US ones were. Favours like Meat Ball, Special Chicken, Chicken Curry, Onion Chicken, Mi Goreng (Fried, basically the Stir-Fry I missed), Mi Goreng Soto (Fried Hot), Shrimp, Sotomie, Satay Fried.

Indomerchant carried it, as well as Asian Merchant and Pacific Island Market So I ordered a batch, and when it came in, treated myself to some much missed IndoMie goodness.

Then, I found that 99 Ranch Market a Large Asian Grocery chain in Southern California, (though they also have stores in Northern California, Washington, Nevada, Hawaii, and Arizona.), also carried IndoMie, (as well as a wide variety of other types of Ramen and Ramenoid foods.) Not only that, I could buy a case of 36 packages of the Mi Goreng (fried) flavour for $6.00! Needless to say, the local 99 Ranch Market gets a lot of my business. (If you go to 99 Ranch to look for IndoMie, look in the Indonesia asile, not the normal Ramen asile.)

One of my friends is addicted to the Onion Chicken flavour, and one of her s/o's likes the Meatball. The Shrimp is good, though I can't stand the way the Satay Fried smells. I've also addicted a fair number of other friends to it.

And the noodles are even good dry.
