patgund: Knotwork (GIR - WHY???)

This is not a good way to spend the day.....

Get to Hamad Hospital.

They do an x-ray.

They do a CT scan.

They make me drink some nasty-tasting constrast solution.

They do the CT scan again.

They give me another dose of the constract solution, this time by another route. (And that's all I want to say on the matter)

They do the CT scan again.

They decide it could be diverticulitis. Or it could be appendicitis. Their recomendation, lapriscopic surgery to see, and that way they can remove it if it is appendicitis

Prep me for surgery.

Do a chest x-ray

Have them decide that they're not going to do the surgery after all, but instead will keep me overnight for observation

Turns out there's no bed available, it being midnight. They decide to keep me in a bed in the ER until one becomes available.

3:00am, send me back to my flat with prescriptions for a pain killer, an anti-fever med, and two antibiotics. (Panadol, Ibuprofen, Flagyl, and Ciprox)

Total time there - 14 hours.

Gah. sounds like a Canadian hospital visit. Keep us posted on what happens, 'kay?

The 72 hours I spent in the hospital with Mariel after her tylenol overdose was only marginally worse. Given the choice between the two - I'd rather get drunk someplace scary.

Feel better soon!

I don't know if being hit by a bullet would help any - Qatar is so quiet they wouldn't know what to do.

Now a traffic accident, they could handle in their sleep......

Much the same health care model I believe. The plus side was that my prescriptions at the hospital were only Qr2.00 each, and I didn't pay for the visit. One antibiotic though I had to get at a chemist, and that was Qr175.00

I suspect next time I'm going to Doha Clinic though

Gods, I'm glad they didn't opt for the surgery. Scary s**t! Feel better. Blessed Be, Angelique

Sounds frighteningly similar to an experience I once had at Gossmont Hospital in La Mesa for a similar problem.

I really hope you start feeling better and can avoid the surgery. I'd be afraid to undergo surgery there for fear of coming home with a grandfather clock in my abdomen.

Hello, darling!

I'm glad you're safely home and hope those meds do the trick. Take good care of yourself.

*hugs & kisses*

WHOA! I just started catching up on LJ post-con. I hope you're all right now! Was thinking of you over the weekend and talking about you some - told some mutual friends that you'll be at Fencon, yay!
