Yes the crime was henious and the attackers should be punished to the full extent of criminal and civil law. Being in the Navy is not an excuse nor is being drunk. They are responsible for their actions in this reprehensible crime.

But, and now for the unpopular part, it is not a "hate crime." Being Goth is not physical or mental disability, racial, racial, ethnic, religious or gender/sexual preference/orientation. Goth is a lifestyle choice.
