Quote of the Day

"Ayn Rand is sort of the hair metal of moral philosophy. It appeals to people with the mentality of a 12-14 year old male, but if you're still listening to it in your 40s, there's something seriously wrong with your mind."

My argument has been that it was very good for me to read Atlas Shrugged (and The Fountainhead, Anthem, and We the Living) when I was in 7th grade, because it allowed me time to get over it before I could vote.

As the saying goes:

"There are two novels that can change a bookish fourteen-year old's life: The Lord of the Rings and Atlas Shrugged.

One is a childish fantasy that often engenders a lifelong obsession with its unbelievable heroes, leading to an emotionally stunted, socially crippled adulthood, unable to deal with the real world.

The other, of course, involves orcs. "

So if I told you I enjoyed Ayn Rand, you'd conclude I was a moron?

I have no problems with Ayn Rand readers.

It's the randbot worshippers that give me a pain between my eyes.
