In my digging after I got home from work, I found the same info that Pat posted... a friend whose daughter had been in girl scouts for several years had told me (a few years ago), but either the information was wrong or is now outdated.

However, after looking through the requirements for both awards - the Girl Scouts have somewhat higher requirements for the Gold Award then the Boy Scouts do for Eagle Scout.
