Today's abandoned Qatar

Today I decided to hit what looked like an abandoned auto shop or work yard near my work.



Here you can see the wood weave and frond style of roof that is very common in older Qatari buildings



This is an old work or vehicle yard I found in the Rayyan area east of Doha. Very typical mudbrick and concrete building, with the woven wood celings.

This car was in the middle of the main courtyard. I think it's gonna be a long time before it's repaired....



This palm was just growing up amid the rubble. Which may say how long it's been idle

A few weeks ago, this all was nothing but an abandoned series of apartments and the like. Not anymore. Those white buildings in the middle distance is where I work.

This would make an excellent shooting location for a "last man on earth" kind of scenario. So bleak. I forget who suggested you publish a coffee table book but I think he/she was right. If LIFE Magazine were still publishing, this would make their kind of photographic layout too.
