[shrug] Superman stayed dead for about a year, and sold quite a few comic books during that time. And not just in the main Superman title but also in several titles where Superman was normally a regular or a frequent guest.

If Marvel is wise, they won't similarly attempt to milk Captain America for all he's worth. They'll either leave him dead or bring him back to life fairly quickly; again, if they're wise.

OTOH, if they can come up with a sufficiently different angle on it, it'll still be worth reading. There isn't a single story in the modern world that hasn't already been done hundreds of time by the ancient Greeks. (And that gives no credit to millenia of fireside story-tellers before there was writing.)
