"Oh, hey Jarvis, can I please speak to Captain America??"
"Oh, I'm sorry, he's currently dead. Could you please call back next week, he should be available then??"
"Oh, okay, thanks!"

Wonder how many comics they'll sell with the main character killed off?

If Marvel is wise, they won't similarly attempt to milk Captain America for all he's worth. They'll either leave him dead or bring him back to life fairly quickly; again, if they're wise.
OTOH, if they can come up with a sufficiently different angle on it, it'll still be worth reading. There isn't a single story in the modern world that hasn't already been done hundreds of time by the ancient Greeks. (And that gives no credit to millenia of fireside story-tellers before there was writing.)
