How about changing it to, oh, I dunno, cane sugar.......

Corn prices making Coke gulp

"Coca-Cola may investigate alternatives to high fructose corn syrup, its main sweetener in the U.S. market, because of high corn prices, a company executive said Monday."

Okay, I mostly drink Diet Coke anyway. But I did have the occasonal bottle of cane sugar coke in Doha, and have been known to do the same in Canada.

It's funny. In a year in the Middle East, I got used to not having stuff with HFCS in it. Now, I'm finding a lot of food here in the US tastes too sweet and cloying

Maybe now that corn is being touted as the source for bio-diesel, corn prices are going up and HFCS will be too expensive to be a profitable food additive.

One can only hope.

Oh, I COMPLETELY agree. I'd love to see that stuff go the way of the dodo. Problem is the Corn lobby in the US is pretty strong. Still, if more and more corn is used for fuel......

They can't dump HFCS fast enough for my tastes. Go back to cane sugar.

annoyingly enough I actually LIKE the taste of HFCS... but it's BAD FOR ME! Ahhh! I try to avoid it and it's difficult. Buying only earth-crunchy foods at Whole Foods helps though :)

RedBull, of all things, contains no HFCS. That's one reason I stick to it vs all other energy drinks. Not that's it's a paragon of healthfulness or anything...

Huh, I wonder what the Coke in the Philippines uses as sweetener. Now that you mention it, the Coke here in the US does seem sweeter than what I'm used to (and prefer). I thought it was my imagination, and just added lots of ice.

Around passover look for the coke with the yellow cap. Or look for "Kosher for Passover" on the label.

Of course, you can also read the ingredients.

... Not that I encourage people to drink that crap anyway. These days I tend to drink tea, hot cocoa (with honey and no milk), and mostly water.

... and sometimes fruit juice.

It's ALL bad for you! Yuck! Yuck!
