Brain. Hurts. Need. Bleach......

Okay......

Way back in Jan., a person going by the name of [livejournal.com profile] darkhorseman makes a post on [livejournal.com profile] polyamory relating to some jealousy issues with his wife and "girlfriend". (Basically the "Poly for me but not for thee" attitude.)

Some civil comments and suggestions are made, until it's found out the "girlfriend" is, in fact, a pony.

The four-legged, eats oats variety.

At which point, the community goes "Oh HELL no!!" and the entertainment begins. [livejournal.com profile] darkhorseman storms off in a huff and deletes his original message. Posts on [livejournal.com profile] dot_poly_snark climb higher. THEN his human wife, [livejournal.com profile] callmesilver joins in, lambasting [livejournal.com profile] polyamory for being "judgemental". Eventually she storms off in a huff as well. Posts on [livejournal.com profile] dot_poly_snark reach low earth orbit.

Well, today in [livejournal.com profile] metaquotes, a link to this post in JournalFen is made.

He "married" the pony.

There are times I hate teh Intertubes....

Bringing something non-human into it is one way to avoid the instability that adding more and more people into a relationship can foster. Not a healthy or good way, but it is a way....

Actually, as a side note (and entirely as an intellectual exercise -- I'm monogamous, date within my species, and taken) I've read from time to time that dolphins will attempt to initiate mating with swimmers if there's enough of a degree of trust/companionship there. If a swimmer were to reciprocate, would it then be consentual? Does the lack of recognized sapience automatically mean consent isn't possible when a species is right on the cusp?

And yes, I know it's a really weird question. I just don't often have a reason to think about polyamory (my friends relationships are their business unless they decide otherwise), much less polyamory with a horse, and I don't want to waste the opportunity.

Now I am a fairly open minded person, I believe. Poly, bondage, whips, hot wax, etc, etc, etc. Been there, done that, got the t-shirt and have had it pierced. But this just brings one word to mind:

EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEW!

You know I used to get stuff in my old e-mail advertising woman and men having relationships with horses and donkeys as normal and that it should be accepted by all community's.. thought it was a bit weird then... but even more now that i can't find my brain bleach and i keep thinking about it.
