Weather...

Yesterday - hot

Today, overcast, chance of rain.

Have I mentioned I like Seattle's weather :-)

Actually what catches me off guard here is the sheer amount of beauty. Yesterday I took a turn in Queen Anne to go under 99 - and almost stopped the car I was so gobsmacked by how lovely it looked.

I can deal with green better than brown

I have such unbelievably fond memories of the Seattle area and Washington State in general. Every time I'd go there and come over the Snoqualmie Pass I was increasingly struck by how amazingly green and pretty the area was. The city itself is nice in the way it blended with the bay and the mountains.

Hot. Yeah, right.

Dude, you've lived in SoCal, you know that the 70s isn't really "hot" :-)

Seattle WA: This Afternoon: Mostly cloudy, with a high near 72. Southwest wind between 15 and 17 mph.

San Bernardino CA: This Afternoon: Mostly sunny, with a high near 102. West wind around 10 mph.

And that doesn't mention the chance of thunderstorms in the local mountains and deserts, which means it'll be humid as -- Hades isn't really humid, is it? ;-)

No argument there! And it sounds like Seattle summers are far preferable to what we have here. I don't think I'd handle the winters well, though :-(.

And of course, what's really important is the emotional climate, as it were. Otherwise, I don't know that Roland would have left SW CT for the Inland Empire ;-).

Heck, I lived in the Middle East! SoCal doesnt compare to the heat+humidity there.

I'll take cooler over hot, thanks :-)

Which makes it all the more surprising you'd call anything Seattle's likely to throw at you "hot" :-).

I'm beginning to wonder if the IE's trying to compete this week, though :-(.

In the summer, I'll agree. When it starts snowing, I'll take warmer over colder, thanks ;-).

I think we can all agree that in general, the less extreme the temps, the better.

Welcome home [g].

I cried, I was so happy, when I drove over Snoqualmie Pass when I moved here (from Ohio by way of Montana 14 years ago). It would take wild horses and dynamite to budge me from western Washington. Actually more dynamite than probably actually exists...

Well I'm certain when you said you were moving that I hoped you liked overcast/rain. A good tradeoff is the mild temps though...

"and almost stopped the car I was so gobsmacked by how lovely it looked."

You are not alone. I suspect it is the cause of a large number of "sun related"* car accidents up there.

(*when the sun comes out in Seattle after a long rain (which can go on for months in the Winter), the roads can become almost as hazardous as they do in San Diego after the first rain)

LOL!!! Almost true. I would have said "almost as hazardous as they do in San Diegeo during the first rain". Californians don't understand rain well and don't usually drive well when it starts to come down. But after the first hour, they start to recover their senses. :-)

I'd edit that to "Southern Californians don't understand rain". Us Northern Californians, (I'm originally from that end of the state) understand rain and fog quite well :-)

I love Queen Anne. There's an absolutely gorgeous overlook somewhere out there and right across the street is an almost hidden little park. It's just so... surreal.

Welcome to my favorite place on the planet! :)

However, August really isn't supposed to be like this. It's supposed to be our one truly warm and dry month out of the year. :p

[identity profile] patgund.livejournal.com 2007-08-21 06:39 pm (UTC)(link)
That may be so, but I'm quite enjoying it. :-)

Hee. Then you shouldn't have much trouble with the rest of the year!

I personally can do without the super bright stuff a lot of the time, but I tend to look to August as my month to get a lot of good photography, which it's failing at this year.
