What part of "dress code" are you not understanding.

School has a dress code. Only khaki pants and polo shirts allowed. No logos or messages allowed. No t-shirts. Not a hard thing to remember, right??

Except for one parent who believes the school is being unfair and "targeting religion" because the school won't allow her daughter to wear Christian-themed t-shirts to school.

Mother: Dress Code Unfairly Targets Religion

"The mother of a student who was suspended for violating her school system's dress code says the rules unfairly target religion, WRTV in Indianapolis reported.

Tracy Prochnow said Highland High School in Indiana suspended her daughter, Brittany Brown, on Monday because the junior wore a Christian-themed T-shirt.

Monday was the fourth time Brittany violated the code, which the city's school board implemented this year and requires students to wear khakis and polo shirts.

Prochnow said the school may be violating her daughter's rights, and she has asked the school board to change the code."

This isn't about religion or anything like that, it's a parent and student thinking the rules don't apply to them, and using religion as an excuse. (another article mentions the mom wants "a “win-win” solution for the uniform situation: a provision in the uniform policy that allows parents to have the option of letting their kids not wear them.")

I bet that same mother would throw a royal conniption if somebody else's child showed up in a shirt that read "The Bible Is Mysogynistic Mythology" or "Jesus was not the son of his mother's husband"...

This should be titled 'what part of "UNIFORM" are you not understanding?'

Good grief...

Once again the Christianists show their blatant disregard for the rule of law if it involves them being able to subjugate others to their not-always-welcome message of fear mongering. Obviously rules are not meant for the ruling class, which is how many of them see themselves (or see that they should be put in charge of everyone else....).
