*Click* "Hello, this is Avenger's Mansion, Jarvis speaking. How may I assist you?"

"Oh, hey Jarvis, can I please speak to Captain America??"

"Oh, I'm sorry, he's currently dead. Could you please call back next week, he should be available then??"

"Oh, okay, thanks!"

I hear that the creators/publishers have no intention of de-deadifying him in the near future. They were talking months in the last several interview's I read about it.

Wonder how many comics they'll sell with the main character killed off?

[shrug] Superman stayed dead for about a year, and sold quite a few comic books during that time. And not just in the main Superman title but also in several titles where Superman was normally a regular or a frequent guest.

If Marvel is wise, they won't similarly attempt to milk Captain America for all he's worth. They'll either leave him dead or bring him back to life fairly quickly; again, if they're wise.

OTOH, if they can come up with a sufficiently different angle on it, it'll still be worth reading. There isn't a single story in the modern world that hasn't already been done hundreds of time by the ancient Greeks. (And that gives no credit to millenia of fireside story-tellers before there was writing.)

As the lone fall guy for the Civil War between the superheroes (which he ended, I might add, for the sake of the civilian population), Capt. America's death and the Presidential amnesty of everyone else on the "wrong" side of the war gives a dramatic denoument. However, I can see Tony Stark's guilt about sending his friend to the slammer while he becomes head of S.H.I.E.L.D. causing him to attempt to keep Rogers out of prison by doing the same thing he himself did during the "Armor Wars" when faced with legal action; faking a death and assuming a new identity.

A distinct possibility. Just so long as Steve Rogers doesn't step out of the shower and She-Hulk rolls over in bed and says "I had the strangest dream . . ."
