When Theosophy meets Autism.

OK, the theosophists can be real freaks about a lot of things. But I understand from one or two people that their therapists for auties are pretty good. I haven't heard anyone say they're raging abusive loons. Even knew someone a few years ago who worked at one of their places in GB.

Anyway.

The reality in *my* universe is that kids who have inhibited or extremely delayed language skills are really, really adept at emotional manipulation. It's the only way they have to consistently get their desires met.

Have you ever heard Mariel whimpering for a chocolate bar? She KNOWS it's going to work on SOMEONE eventually, so she can keep it up for hours. Literally. We ran into a kindergarten teacher I know from my lunchlady school, and SHE said "Amazing! I find myself overwhelmed with the desire to buy her some chocolate, even though I *know* what she's doing!" It doesn't surprise me at all to think people with a certain worldview see some telepathic ability in this.
