From Neatorama

"The Portland Mercury, an entertainment magazine in Portland, Oregon, asked readers to take a poll about what they’d like to see on the cover of an issue. Artist Andrew Zubko executed their vision with this magnificent illustration."

While on the M/V Tillkum this morning, approaching Vashon Island, I hear the following announcement over the PA:

"Attention all passengers, we are now arriving at Vashon Island, the undisputed centre of the universe. All auto passengers please return to your vehicles at this time....."

I think Fremont might disagree with them......

Based on several things I've noticed around here, I think I'm safe in assuming that if anyone ever writes a "Secret History of Seattle", two groups will have a large part in it.

1) Pirates

2) Freemasons

I'm in Tacoma on a service call this morning....

....and, looking to the northeast, against the clouds, is Mt. Rainier.

And once again, I'm awestruck by how beautiful it is up here.

I've joked before that living in Seattle makes me feel like a conservative at times.

It also makes me feel downright dowdy too. IT people in kilts aside, it's almost like the entire city is in a race to define trendy and hip, fashionwise.

Yesterday I saw someone so mod, so trendy, so with it hip, counter-culture and body-modified, that I swear his sperm was more than likely pierced as well.

The name "Mercer" in "Mercer Island" comes from the Native American word "Me'qerci" meaning "you can't park there".

Several years ago I read about the bridge stubs and "ghost ramps" connecting WA-520 near the western start of the Evergreen Point Floating Bridge, to what would have been an expressway that was never built.

A couple days ago, I got to see them for myself.......

Wishing I could go to NorWesCon. See a LOT of people dear to me. Troop with the 501st. Meet people from the An Tir lists I'm on.

Next year.

And by then, it should be a local convention to me.......
