Well, went to Westercon last weekend. It was reasonably nice. However, getting discouraged. Seems like anyone I would find interesting and/or attractive was taken or not accepting any further partners. Starting to wonder why the hell I should bother.
Yeah. Betcha that in 5 years I'm going to be a single parent and alone.
Otherwise the con was cool. The UK in '05 WorldCon bid had a scotch-tasting party. Baen Books was giving away galley copies of the next Honor Harrington book. (yay!)
And speaking of books, got my copy of "Kushiel's Chosen" autographed by the author. Had no luck finding a hardback of "Kushiel's Dart" to get signed as well. Mumble......
As for the hotel, (LAX Ratty-Swine), the room wasn't too bad - discounting the roaches in the bathroom, the non-functional elevators, and the fact the toilet backed up twice while I was there. Ewwww.....
Over all, a decent con, save the hotel and being alone.
