Was rumaging around the parts locker at work, found a partly disassembled PowerBook 2400/180. Noticed it had a Japanese keyboard. So asked if I could have it, remembering we have a 2400 power adapter in my office.
Had to reattach the trackpad, but when I booted it up, it did a 5 minute delay, and then suddenly restarted with no problems.
Mind you, it also booted into MacOS 8.6 Japanese...... :-)
Need to find a place with spare parts for that model. It's missing the external floppy and CD drive, and parts of the molding. Not to mention a few screws. Still, seems to be working. Have to play with it.
