patgund: Knotwork (Hello Scream)
Noticed one of the "Adopt a Highway" signs as being sponsored by the "The State of Jefferson".

For those of you going "what???", the "State of Jefferson" is a secession movement trying to form the 51st state from portions of Northern California and Southern Oregon, (as both portions of those states feel like they've been ignored by Sacramento and Salem.

Interesting.........

On a rainy BC afternoon, over an order of A&W poutine, [livejournal.com profile] catmcroy and I got very silly......

Christopher Robin, Ventrue, Prince of the 1000 acre wood
Rabbit - Toredore (Obviously, he's fussy and a perfectionist)
Owl - Tremere (He just thinks he knows more than he does)
Tigger - Ravnos (How else do you explain him being hyper and casually destructive)
Eeyore - Malkavian (Don't mind me, nobody else does...)
Pooh - Gangrel (For the most part, in tune with his surroundings, but somewhat clueless)
Kanga, and Roo ???? (We were thinking that Kanga was a werekangaroo, and Roo her metis offsrping. However "Roo, childer of Kanga" sounds so cool though....)
Huffalump - Nosferartu (Well, you never see him....)
Piglet - Lasombra (He seems smaller and more defenseless than he is, but always seems to be in the thick of things.)
Gopher - ghouled by one or more of the above ??

You know you're a roadgeek when you amuse yourself by trying to identify when a bridge was built by it's outline.

WIshed my camera worked this trip, but used the folding bicycle I brought with me to bike a closed off portion of old Highway 99 between Piru Creek and Pyramid Dam this morning.

Which included crossing a bridge I'd only seen in pictures, half of it was built in 1932, and it was widened in 1951. As a result, it has different guardrails on each side, the 1932 side has wooden rails, the 1951 side has metal.

Since I don't have pictures, check this site out.

http://www.scvresources.com/highways/us_99/us99027.htm

I also drove 99 business though Bakersfield, which is the pre-1962 alignment of 99.

So, at this point, I've driven the majority of 99 from Calexico to British Columbia, excepting the old 99E alignment in California.

burning
Your soul is bound to the Burning Rose: The
Rapture.

"I go where my heart beckons me, and I go
with my head high. But sometimes, I get a need
until I bleed so my heart swims above my
head."

The Burning Rose is associated with passion,
intensity, and desire. It is governed by the
god Eros and its sign is The Flame, or Physical
Love.

As a Burning Rose, you can get lost in the moment
if you let yourself. You are a very physical
person, be it in relationships, work, or play.
You may be driven by your hormones sometimes,
but you know it's because you have to follow
your instinct.
