patgund: Knotwork (Happy Bunny - Everything is Great thanks)
Someone needs to tell Glenn Beck that San Diego is one of the more conservative areas of California, and that military personnel and their familes are being effected by the fires there. Not to mention all the military retirees.

Maybe Rep. Duncan Hunter would have the balls to chew out Glenn Beck for this assine comment. It's the people in HIS district, among others, losing their homes.

Beck: "[A] handful of people who hate America ... are losing their homes in a forest fire today"

"I think there is a handful of people who hate America. Unfortunately for them, a lot of them are losing their homes in a forest fire today."

Bacon Apple Pie

Bacon Apple Pie

Ingredients:

* Pastry for 9-inch pie, uncooked
* 6 cups apples, peeled and cut into thin slices (about 2 1/4 lbs or 8 medium apples)
* 3/4 lb uncooked bacon
* 3/4 cup sugar
* 2 Tbl flour
* 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
* 1/4 tsp nutmeg
* 1 Tbl milk
* 1 Tbl sugar

Directions:
Fry bacon in skillet until slightly floppy. Drain on paper towel. Chop bacon into 1/2" pieces. Line bottom of pastry-lined pie plate with a layer of bacon, reserving the rest.

In a large bowl, mix together 3/4 cup sugar, flour, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Add apple slices and remaining bacon pieces. Toss to coat.

Transfer bacon-apple mixture to pastry-lined pie plate. Place upper crust on pie plate (bonus points for a lattice, double bonus points if you can show me a bacon lattice!) and seal. Cut slits in the top if you are using double crust to allow to vent. Brush top with milk and sugar. Bake at 375 F for 1 hour or until bubbly.

Cool on a wire rack. Serve with smoked cheddar cheese slices.

66. I wish they would get out of Qualcomm because I am sick of them using that site each time there is a fire. There is an NFL game to be played SUnday. EVen worse, if the Chargers get a stadium on another part of the county, Qualcomm will be redeveloped into something else. The County needs to stop using Qualcomm because sooner or layter, it won't be available anyway!

306. This fire is an picture what will be happen in four years time, Oktober 2011 AD the end of time. The day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up. (2 Peter 3:10) The ultimate terror - Judgment Day, there is no escape! Are you ready to meet God?

311. My mom says it's the apocalypse. First there will be things being flooded and burned to ash, and then worse things will come...but I don't know what exactly. It sorta relates to the Nausicaa movie from Studio Ghibli. The seven days of fire, everything polluted, warring humans, mutated ecological systems...

Bonfire event banned in Guy Fawkes' home town

" A bonfire celebration in York, the home town of Guy Fawkes, has been banned on health and safety grounds, the local council said on Tuesday.

Thousands were due to attend the spectacle on the 402nd anniversary of Fawkes' failed plot to blow up parliament.

But York City Football Club was told their ground was too small to ensure spectator safety, a decision which left the head of the cathedral city's tourist board "lost for words."
