"Wildlife officials say the animal is a young adult Louisiana black bear, approximately 3 to 4 feet tall, weighing approximately 300 lbs. He is thought to be from Iberville Parish and is likely moving east.
According to officials with the Department of Wildlife and Fisheries, this type of bear is not predatory or aggressive by nature.
"Wildlife told me that their recommendation would be to treat it as a 300 pound stray dog," Bonnette said. "
