Weirdness.....
Mar. 4th, 2005 04:33 pmOn Jan 24th I signed up for the San Diego Anime and Manga Meetup Group. Now I had missed the Jan. meetup, and didn't have a chance to attend the Feb. meetup due to being out of town. I was planning to attend the March meetup though.
Note I said planning to. On Feb. 24th I got a notice saying I had been removed from said group for "You haven't visited the group website or taken an active part in the group in some time." Which is, quite frankly, odd, because I never had a chance to take *ANY* part in said group, (though I had visited the website.)
I commented on this here. While the website says that "Newbies are very welcome", that doesn't seem to be the case.
At the time I thought that maybe the person organizing the meetup was just being way too picky, and left it at that. But several people have commented they got dumped as well. And it looks like the reason why is simple - guilt by association. Namely that the people who got booted are friends of someone the organizer doesn't like, and the ex-boyfriend of the friend in question.
All together now - WTF???
The people in question are in my age group (middle 30's early 40's). I would *expect* them to show more maturity. This reminds me of the worse of High School cliques myself. Haven't these people grown up?
Frankly, my three-year old daughter shows more maturity than these people.
I would be tempted to start a second anime meetup for those that would prefer not to deal with the drama that the other group seems to be generating. Anyone interested, (or doing this already??)
