Have I mentioned lately my job sucks???

One of my problem children came in today demanding to borrow the 8mm video camera and a tripod. This camera usually doesn't leave the lab because it has to share a power supply with a DV camera, (the other power supply was lost before I started here.) So, after explaining to her several times that she is *NOT* to lose that power supply, I bundle up the camera, tapes, and a tripod.

However, she *can't* bring that tripod, it's way too heavy, and why can't she borrow one of the light weight ones? I then explained to her that she couldn't borrow the light weight ones because she *lost* one and the other was broken and had to be thrown out. Still, the tripod I was willing to give her was too heavy, and she started to whine like a spoiled brat. Found a still camera tripod that's really only good for tabletop use, but she insisted that's perfect for her. Fine, dandy, whatever, take the bloody camera.

We won't even go into how badly people can screw things up in 24 hours.

...Please tell me there was some sort of paperwork processed that stated the condition of the camera, tripod and powerpack, that she had to effing sign before she could get her incompetent mitts on the equipment... Please?

Oh, she's on the checkout list. Not that that will do any good - her boss is the lab's associate director, and the associate director's attitude towards getting helping me try and inforce the rules towards *any* of her people is "I don't want to be bothered". Actually, the lab manager and I now have a rule that if any equipment gets broken by anyone on that team, it will *not* be repaired. Said rule will continue until the assoicate director starts helping us enforce the rules.
