I need a vacation.
The last vacation I had was home leave in March of 2006. However, Cornell ripping off over $20,000 of what they owed me in back pay, bonuses, vacation, and moving expenses when I returned to the US, hurt me badly. The cushion I was going to use to readjust back to the US and look for work in the Pacific Northwest or Texas was gone.
Yes, the NY labor board has ruled in my favour. Which means if Cornell doesn't pay me by the end of August, I get the fun of filing suit against them. And per contract, I might have to file in New York.
SInce then, almost every single trip I've made has been looking for a new job. Even up in Seattle, I've gotten applications and resumes out. And this next trip is no exception - I'm bringing my suit because some agencies up there want to interview me.
Since I've been back from Doha, I have taken very little free time. Almost every scrap of time - and money - has either been work, looking for work, or LB suport.
I've gone to two small cons, and one of those was simply because I could work interviews in as well and they were paying part of my airfare and lodging. Everything else social has been pretty much placed on hold. Even SCA stuff is usually a case of too expensive to justify. Hell, almost everything in my life right now falls into the "can't justify, can't afford." mindset.
Needing vacation, yes. Gonna get one anytime soon? Nope.
