Review - French Toast Pop Tarts
Feb. 1st, 2004 05:52 pmWhile doing some shopping at Target last friday, I saw a new flavour of Pop Tarts - French Toast. Now, I admit, I'm a bit of a Pop Tarts addict, and since I like French Toast anyway, I decided to try them. The idea is that they're a cinnamon pastry shell with maple syrup flavoured filling.
Out of package - the first thing you smell that semi-fakey maple syrup smell you get from waffle crisp cereal and other related cereals.
First batch was tried toasted. The first thing you get is the smell of cinnamon and maple out of your toaster.
Taste - yep, they taste like frozen french toast. The filling is maplely-enough to taste like syrup, but not enough to be cloying. Aftertaste is pretty much cinnamon. Even the filling has more cinnamon flavour than maple.
Come to think of it, they're a lot like an unfrosted Brown-Sugar and Cinnamon Pop Tart.
Second batch in the toaster. Tried a bite of one before it went into the toaster. Yep, unfrosted Brown Sugar and Cinnamon Pop Tart. And BS&C Pop Tarts really need to be toasted.
End result - you know, these aren't that bad. They're actually fairly decent. I suspect that if you're the type that puts butter on your pop tarts, you may really enjoy these.
