My personal theory is that since the Chihuahua was originally bred to fight rats, they obviously took home war brides.......

The research is genuine, of course (Do a search on "Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center").

But someone is having fun with it -- they *are* all descended from either Lupine or Vulpine stock.

For years now, I've been referring to any canine-like animal that's under a foot (give or take) at the shoulder as a pseudo-dog. Perfectly nice little animals, some of them, but not really dogs.

Looks like I wasn't so wrong after all ;-) ;-) ;-).
