(BLINK!!!) (Political, wingnuttery)
Nov. 11th, 2004 12:55 pmOkay, this is one of the weirder bits of wingnuttery I've seen, no matter what side of the political landscape you're on.
"Declaration of Expulsion: A Modest Proposal (It's Time to Reconfigure the United States)"
"...a specific constitutional amendment to kick out the systemically troublesome states and those trending rapidly toward anti-American, if not outright subversive, behavior. The 12 states that must go: California, Illinois, New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts, Vermont, New Hampshire, Maine, Rhode Island, Connecticut, Maryland, and Delaware. Only the remaining 38 states would retain the name, "United States of America." The 12 expelled mobs could call themselves the "Dirty Dozen," or individually keep their identity and go their separate ways, probably straight to Hell."
Besides the fact that several of the states he lists (California & New York for example), are a major portion of the US's economic base, ignoring the fact that many of the states he lists pay more to the federal government in taxes then they get back from the government, *AND* ignoring the fact he left out Washington, Oregon, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, Hawaii, and Michigan, which are also "blue states".
Yes, ignoring all of that, what I thought was the weirdest part was that 8 of the states listed were part of the original 13 states! (And since Pennsylvania was a "blue state" as well, that makes 9 of the 13.) That's right Boys and Girls, he's actually suggesting kicking out of the United States of America 8 or 9 out of the 13 original, founding, members *OF* the United States of America, for being "anti-American".
(facepalm) You know, I suspect those 13 states may have a better idea of what it means to be a part of the United States, than the other 37 johnny-come-latelies....
Someone needs their medication adjusted.....

It Won't Work
More Culture War
I know there are "blue" people in "red" states and visa versa (I'm a blue person in a red county in a blue state...), but I'm beginning to wonder if the India/Pakistan solution isn't going to end up being the only way to solve our differences.
I wonder if Canada will go for this?
