Found this blog from an editor in Hollywood, with examples of story ideas (or Querys) he's gotten.

Considering the tripe that *gets* made, even the bad movie buff in me is cringing at these.

Or:

"In a magical world faced with a rising evil, Prince Liamil runs away from his family and an arranged marriage. Soon after he starts his new life he rescues Shali, a beautiful girl being attacked by the local thieves' guild, who turns out to be an assassin sent to kill him. The prince must no run from his own powerful family, the thieves' guild, and his jilted bride, all while living in fear of his the woman by his side."

Makes Barn of the Blood Llama look like Oscar material it does.

A really good writer could pull off the second one, I think. But it's unlikely. I mean, would a brief summary of, say, The princess Bride, or Ladyhawke sound much more likely? It's all about the writing. Ok, not all. But a lot.
