patgundOkay, you'll have to forgive some major David Weber / Honorverse geeking here for a minute......
Was thinking of the twins that Allison Harrington had during the time Honor was on Hell, (and presumed executed by the Peeps.).
Now, both Honor and her father have a genie modification for heavy worlders. And the price they pay for this is an increased metabolism and appetite. Her mother, being a native of Beowulf, doesn't have this modification, which is why she has to watch her weight - and at the same time can go longer than her husband or daughter between meals.
We can assume the heavy world modification is carried as a genetic dominate. Which means the twins should also carry the same modification in their genes.
In addition, prolong extends pregnancy two and half more months.
Which means that not only was Allison having to eat for way more than three during her pregnancy, (and more than likely having to take food suppliments by the cartload to boot)....
....But then she's faced with having to nurse twins. Twins with increased metabolism and appetites. Twins that are more than likely going to want to nurse far, far, far more than a baby without that genetic modification. Twins that are more than likely going to be rather loudly protesting if dinner isn't right there and then.......
What's worse, she's on Grayson. Which means even if she can find a Grayson woman to help as a wet-nurse, it's likely that a Grayson woman's breast milk has too high a level of heavy metals to be healthy for a non-Grayson child.
I suspect Allison Harrington was praying that the twins be weaned ASAP.,.........
