This actually kinda makes sense though:

USB Dog Tags

Dog tags have now gone high tech with the introduction of Top Tag Pet ID.

It hangs from your dog's collar and contains important information should he or she run away.

Top Tag Pet ID has software pre-loaded allowing the owner fill in blanks on their dog's owner, health history, food and diet, commands it knows, and even photos.

It stores up to 64Mb of data, and costs $39.95.

I'm sure they're on the way. I think I remember reading something about high tech ID tags for us humans, as a matter of fact. I mean, it's great they have our blood types on there, but wouldn't it be handy to know on the spot about drug allergies and medical history?

Active duty is switching to that system, to allow MEDPROS to be accessed through the ID card swipe stripe. Dog tags I'd not heard anything about, but now I wish they would.

Seems like a great alternative to the standard MedicAlert bracelets/necklaces.

And FTR, I'm the Morgan who paffed the guy who thought it was a joke. Anyone here ever lost a pet and would have been willing to pay $40 in shelter fees or something similar to recover him? The only reason I'm not seriously considering this is that money is tight and our two cats aren't allowed outdoors.
