Chupaqueso - Frying Cheese for Fun and Profit

"She was the perfect cooking surface. Ah, my sweet Teflon. I brought home the bacon, and she was the pan I fried it up in. The hotcakes like which some things went always went best on Teflon’s smooth skin.

Her smooth skin… so amazing to the touch. It was as if it wasn’t even THERE it was so soft. And when Chupaqueso was but a twinkle in my eye, she was there, ready to bear it through the heat, the turning, the twisting… Teflon bore my child, and I thought we two were forever.

But it couldn’t last. I tried to treat her with care, I was as tender as a man can be, never abrasive, and never EVER using metal utensils. For a while it seemed like we WOULD see forever, but then her skin began to discolor, and my sweet Teflon started to grab things."

Mmmmmm. I've just gakked this and reposted to my journal as well as [community profile] food_porn, crediting Corgi for the link and you for the quote selection. And I must forward the link to a non-LJ celiac friend.

Did you get to meet Corgi on one of her visits out here? The name fits her sweet self as well as her favorite canine breed.

[personal profile] swestrup looooooves chupaquesos. I've never tried one. He and [personal profile] taxlady are Atkins devotees so this is a snack that's okay within their dietary schematic.

Oh I love the writing on this.
but it still makes me think of....
I'd love to know why people call nonstick cookware nonstick. I mean - I cook with it then spend four days cleaning it. Someone else cooks with it, another four days. Still not clean. Got things STUCK to it. What part of nonstick does it not understand?
It is not like cast iron. Cast iron, nothing sticks to. At least not for long. I mean, even if so stuck on need blowtorch.... did you know you can use blowtorch on cast iron? Well, you can. As long as you don't have it hot enough to melt iron that is.
But nonstick? Nonstick shrivel and blow away. With food still stuck to it.

*heh* another convert to Cast Iron!!! *mwahahaha* (even though it's someone who I've never met and probably will never know. *heh* it's still worth cackling about)

(I'm also a technorati-powered ego-stalker...)
