How to break friends......
Jan. 29th, 2006 01:03 pmOkay, I know
digital_panther is a Devo fan. Which is why I expressed curiousity if he had heard about "Devo 2.0"
For those expressing morbid curiouity, Devo 2.0 is an upcoming album & group. 2 new songs by Devo, but the rest is covers of Devo's music. Done by a group of 10-14 year olds. Produced by Disney Music.
So do we eventually see Mickey in a jumpsuit and wearing a energy dome? And where the hell are they going to slip in the SubGenii references???
My first reaction was "WHAT WERE THEY THINKING????" Then I went "WHAT WERE THEY, THINKING???" Then I realized that either a) they're taking this chance to corrupt a new generation of mutants, or b) have completely and totally sold out to das maus.
Based on his rant here, I seem to have broken him.....
This is the second album along these lines Disney Music has done. The first was by They Might Be Giants. The next one is by The Go-Go's. Which really makes me wonder what we get to see in 5-10 years. Do I get treated to the sight and sounds of Little Bit in her 'tween years bopping along to a Mousified version of Depeche Mode, with tweenies singing Disney versions of "Master and Servant" and "PersonalJesus Mickey"??
Makes me wonder who is corrupting who here? Is this another example of Disney assimilation? ("We are Mickey of Borg. Resistance is Futile. Your wait-time from this point to be assimilated is 30 minutes")
