Star Trek blade seized

"THIS five-foot martial arts sword capable of beheading a man was recovered by shocked cops in a house raid.
The terrifying Batleth weapon is identical to one wielded by Klingon aliens in the Star Trek sci-fi films.

Officers seized the three-handled sword — which has huge pointed blades at either end — at a home in Gloucester."

(Side note: They're getting people to turn in KNIVES???? The police demanding 5 year minimum sentences for carrying a knife? And I thought California had retarded knife laws! I have sharper and better looking knives in my kitchen supplies!! First guns, then knives, what's next, banning martial arts??)

Bleedinf Hell! "Martial arts blade"? I would love someone to display the blade in use. Might be funny to watch the individual divest himself of all his limbs. A combat ready Bat'leth is more of a danger to the weilder than to any potential victim. It's only good as a fan ollector's item and serves no practical value as a "martial arts sword".

Guess it's a good thing the police didn't find a Veron T Disruptor and a decanter of Romulan Ale. That must carry a really hefty sentence.

Back in my SCA days I was tempted to make one of rattan just to establish how bad a weapon it would be.

I developed my opinion of its uselessness from the same origins. And also considered the same.

It's possible (not likely but possible) that a bat'leth, in the right hands could serve similarly as a madu. But as a truly offensive weapon I think it's a quick road to self embowelment.

The point you're missing is that it had been sharpened, which is something Paramount doesn't permit their vendors to do. This moved it from 'TV Prop' into the realm of 'weapon'.

Collectors are permitted to have knives in Britain -- they just need to register the items.

The Brits are moving asymptotically toward outlawing self-defense of any kind.
