(Crossposted to [livejournal.com profile] abandonedplaces and my LJ)

As I said previously, I found three abandoned houses on June 3rd. Except #3 wasn't as abandoned as I thought. I shant post those pictures.

However, I got some lovely shots from #2. Since there's 12 total, I'll split them into two posts.

On to the house - and some greenery as well.......

This is the gate to the second house I found on June 3rd Example of very common decorative iron work on the gate

This is taken from the courtyard, or what remains of it. Surprisingly enough, the house was covered with trees. Amazing amount of greenery for Doha

Window into one of the bedrooms of the house

Picture of the courtyard from under one of the trees. The temp was about 108, so the shade was welcome.

The sidra trees almost made a tunnel to the front door and porch

Front window. Notice the soot out the lower and upper windows.......

That's what I thought at first - and may have taken design elements from such. But as near as I could tell, it was a planter

What do you mean that the other house wasn't as abandoned as you thought? And what's with the soot in the last picture? Inquiring minds want to know...

I started to take pictures of the courtyard and main building. When I moved up on the porch, I noticed cushions and cards on the porch, smokestains out of a window, and voices echoing from the back of the house. Which means it was a house that was abandoned by the former owners that was now being used (unofficially) as a shelter / labour camp by the labourers brought in to feed Doha's building boom.

That *is* a lot of greenery. Makes me wonder if there's a leaking water pipe below ground.
