Next time I'm in Whittier.....

Store boasts best pirate booty

"Some laughed, a few scoffed when Holly Miller-Naranjo opened Pirates N' Plunder two years ago. The store is exclusive to all things pirate.

Some doubted the high-concept specialty shop had a wide enough niche to survive. But then came "Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl" in 2003, which helped boost Miller-Naranjo's bottom line.

Now the upcoming release of the Johnny Depp-driven sequel is bringing in a new wave of customers like Cherry and Miller-Naranjo is laughing a hearty "harrr" all the way to the bank."

Don't know where Whittier is, necessarily, but there was a shop on the waterfront in San Diego that was at least 30% Pirates. We bought Pirate Band-aids and Pirate Picture Frames there.

Arrrr!
