Okay, I'm moderately hooked on Puzzle Pirates. However, a couple friends have mentioned Second Life to me.

Anyone out there play this? Is it worth it? Or should I worry about a first life first :-)

SL can be a time sucker if you allow it. It isn't a game as such, as much as it is a chat room and construction playground, though people have designed games to play there, from "Slingo" to slot machines and skeeball (and primitive flight sims and other vehicle sims).

Be warned though, it also has definite adult oriented areas. There's a fairly large minority of people who practice cyber-sex, from heavy petting to BDSM & Gor, though you can avoid those by simply not checking the "Mature" box when you do an online search.

Second Life is basically nothing other than a graphical Moo/Muck/Mud. I found it slow, painful, and boring. But perhaps you'll find it otherwise.

Puzzle Pirates is lots of fun, especially now that it works SOOOOO much better on Macs. :-)

JOhn.

So far PP has been a blast. I've gotten up to master at Alchemistry, and have solid ratings in Sailing, Bilge-pumping, and carpentry. (up to Lt. as a naval rank, I'm PatGund, cobalt ocean)

Sounds moderately cool then. I rather like puzzle pirates :-) Second Life looks interesting, but after a year of living and working in the Middle East, I'm not sure if my social skills are up for the task (laugh!)

The baeuty of online RP games is that if your not socially up to it, they tend to lag, so you have time to plan your words.. hee hee!!!
