Yeah. Maybe I'm a complete nutter with an old highway fetish, but I was thinking a trip to something like that would be massively fun and romantic for a couple / trio / whatever

Oh no, I agree. But then I think Roadtrips like that are romantic overall. Sadly my sweeties arent into traveling (like at all) and I dont drive.

Thats one of the things on my list for new sweeties. -must be interested in spontatneous roadtrips.

I understand. Finding a sweetie that would be into exploring old roads and abandoned places would be *quite* nice.

I've read about that place a year or two back...the pics in the article looked as if the grass was astroturf. Cool idea though. Around here in MN the idea is becoming popular to buy a camper & park it for the summer on a rented lot by a lake. Like having a cabin 'up north' without the maintenance headaches! ^_^

My husband stayed there during a spring training pilgrimage. Just beware the automatic sprinklers when en route to the restroom.
