Being ahead of the packing game, I decided to spend the afternoon playing tourist.

I went to the Doha Zoo and the Qatar National Museum, as well as taking pictures of another abandoned house.

Mental note, may have not been the brightest idea, as the temp was 100, the humidity was 80%, and, despite the amount of water I was drinking the entire time, I was having chills when I got back to my flat and my clothes had salt-stains on them, as did my glasses.

Two bottles of water later, two bottles of Gatorade later, some potassum tablets, and a tepid shower, (no luck for a cool one, alas), and I'm back to snuff. Still, just another reason why leaving Qatar is a good idea.

Yes, that DOES sound worse than the Philippines where it's ONLY around 95-105f with dewpoints in the 70s. That 2x per day shower is mandatory, both for cooling and hygeine, btw. Thanks for reminding me why I'm not going with Denden when she's inexplicably visiting Sep 23-mid october, during one of the hotest times of the year... :P

Oh and speaking of showers, I'd bet shower water heaters are scarce there also?? In the philippines the water pipes are far enough underground that a cold-water shower is pleasantly tepid but, as you noted, not cold, by any means...

Water heaters can be used during the winter and spring. By June though, you pretty much loose your cold water completely save late at night or just in the morning.

Many swimming pools here actually use chillers to keep the water cool.
