Just finished the last suitcase unpack.

It's amazing the things I'm having to throw away as destroyed by TSA and their search. And all their response to this vandalisim was a "we have to protect our country" with this undertone that if I don't approve of their destroying my property, I must be some un-American traitor.

Grrrrr......

Don't get me started on the TSA. In planning for this move I'm expecting similar results from the bastards.

What did they destroy? I'm asking so I'll know what not to pack.

We're relocating to Vancouver, Washington in hopes of finding decent employment (They're starving us to death out here. I've been rejected several times as "overqualified"). Propbably leapfrog from there to Seattle as work becomes available.

Let's see:

Carved wood boxes that were bubble-wrapped, unwrapped, thrown back into bag, arrived scratched up.

My sony world-band AM/FM/SW/WB radio, antenna extended and bent

The lap support for my harp, broken.

My travel alarm, battery compartment lid broken off, batteries missing.

A second digital clock, same thing

The bags of cables and adapters, empied out into the bag

And that's off the top of my head.

Joy. So I should just go ahead and throw away the battery lids on the clocks.

I've already decided to pull the harddrives from my main computer and take them as carry-on with the laptop. And I've decided against anything fragile.

I'll probably just ship anything that stands any chance of being destroyed.

I really don't think they'll stop until they're faced with thousands of individual lawsuits over this. No single action, let them try arguing to a judge for the 40th time this month that the government can destroy a citizen's property for no good reason and not be held liable for it. I'm betting the judges lose sympathy really quick.

At least you came back in one piece . *hugs* Would hate to see how the TSA might handle you in the luggage compartment.

"We have to protect our country" is no excuse for willfully and neglectfully vandalizing private property.

Did you have any trip insurance or something similar? Insurance may be able to pay a claim on it depending on what and how much the item(s) were worth.
