Was watching "Enterprise" this evening. It's no "Babylon 5", but it's occasionally watchable. Okay, if you ignore the fact the producers seem bound and determined to ignore anything about Classic Star Trek that is.

The subplot of this episode I found amusing though.

While the main plot (*WAP*!! We're *WAP* not going to *WAP* continue to *WAP* hit the viewer *WAP* over the head *WAP* with the main plot *WAP*.)was a very, very thinly disgused gays/HIV allegory, (which also managed to trash everything we knew about Vulcans and mindmelds from the Classic series.), the subplot was that one of Dr. Phlox's (sp??) three wives came on board to help set up some equipment that was ordered.

(Side note: It was established in the first season that Dr. Phlox has three wives, and each one of his wives has additional husbands. Interesting quasi-poly note that.)

Well, Mrs. Phlox for some strange reason decides she's got the hots for the chief engineer, Tucker. And proceeds to go after him quite blatantly. Tucker, being a good ol' southern gentleman, is trying to ignore this and ignore this, and finally decides he needs to tell the doctor his wife is hitting on him.

However, the doctor's response is basically "Oh, okay. And the problem with this is???", and wonders if Tucker is going to take her up on her offer. (Throw away line about how most males would be very lucky to get a rose pedal bath from a woman of his species.) Tucker finally tells the doctor that he's not about to fool around with one of his wives, at which point Dr. Phlox's response is, "Ok. Your loss." Later on as she's getting ready to leave, Dr. and Mrs. Phlox have a chuckle about humans and their attitudes.

My attitude at the end basically boiled down to "Tucker, you idiot...."
