All the colours of rail lines....

Yesterday was my first experiment with transit. Since I had to travel from Upland, I did the following:

Metrolink > Union Station/ Red Line > Blue Line > Bus (108)

I left at 5:50am, arrived at 9:10pm. The bus was a mess, and needed a one block walk to a bus stop in a dodgy neighborhood.

Return was:

Santa Monica #3 > Green Line > Blue Line > Red Line > Union Station / Metrolink

Three hours, 50 minutes, due to a 50 minute wait at Union Station. Beautiful building though.

Today was from Monrovia:

Gold Line > Red Line > Blue Line > Green Line > Santa Monica #3.

Total time, 2 hours, 10 minutes.

Beats driving in LA traffic. And cheaper too.

I can't get my mind around a 2-3 hour comute being 'reasonable' but then, before I moved to the metro area, I never would believe I would consider a 30-45m commute reasonable either...

Here, I -WOULD- like to take the bus but, due to the transfers and routing it would take 1.5-2 hours to get to where I can get to in 30-40m by car...

Oh, and what happened to SLAUSON?? Didn't you transfer there or something?? (Thanks go to Johnny Carson for making SLAUSON stick in my mind!!) ^_^
