Anti-Gay Church Must Pay Marine's Family

"A Kansas church has been ordered to pay $3,150 for costs and fees associated with a summons and complaint filed by the father of a Marine whose funeral was picketed by the extremist group.

Albert Snyder, of York, Pa., is suing the Rev. Fred Phelps and Westboro Baptist Church after church members demonstrated at the funeral of Lance Cpl. Matthew Snyder, of Westminster, and posted pictures of the protest on their Web site.

Lance Snyder was killed in Iraq in March. Members of the Topeka church claim U.S. soldiers are killed as God's punishment for America's tolerance of homosexuality."

Good! This man and his church's hate-filled rhetoric ("God hates fags", indeed! He must have skipped John 3:16) need to be slapped down. He may preach whatever he wants inside his own church, but he has no right to disrupt a private ceremony. He is not moved by the love of God, but by the love of himself. He is a disgrace to the entire Christian community.

You know, I really think this church group should (in it's entirety) go picket in front of the gates of the Green Zone in Bagdad. I'm sure they'd get a 'warm' recieption.

I wish the court hand granted a higher reward for the family. The next question is, if they don't pay up, do they get their church reposessed by the court? Is it maybe a way of shutting them down? It's an interesting concept. There could even be precedent too after everyone and their brother sued (and are suing) the catholic church...
