I'm sure there are many people who would love to shove a bowling ball down Pat Robertson's throat. What amazes me is that he has ANY credibility anymore. Not to mention the myriad of Bible verses on "False Prophets" he's violating. Starting with Deuteronomy 18:18-22 and going from there.

Robertson says God told him of ''mass killing'' in U.S. in 2007

"Religious broadcaster Pat Robertson cited communications with God in predicting Tuesday that horrific terrorism aimed at the United States will result in "mass killing" during the second half of 2007.

"The Lord didn't say nuclear, but I do believe it'll be something like that - that'll be a mass killing, possibly millions of people, major cities injured," Robertson said.

"There will be some very serious terrorist attacks," he said. "The evil people will come after this country, and there's a possibility - not a possibility, a definite certainty - that chaos is going to rule." Robertson did not say where the attacks would occur."

To which I have this to say to Mr. Robertson:

"“Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing but inwardly are ravenous wolves. You will know them by their fruits. Are grapes gathered from thorns, or figs from thistles? In the same way, every good tree bears good fruit, but the bad tree bears bad fruit. A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit. Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. Thus you will know them by their fruits.

“Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father in heaven. On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many deeds of power in your name?’ Then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; go away from me, you evildoers.’" - Matthew 7:15-23 (NRSV)

So...he frell asleep with the TV on, and got the big boom from Heroes tangled up in his dreams and thought it was a message from God?

What, you expect the televangelists to actually pay attention to any Bible verse other than the one that supports their cause of the moment?

Craig Ferguson (http://www.cbs.com/latenight/latelate/) last night said "God told him there's going to be a major terrorist attack, and I'm thinking, why didn't God tell him how to stop it? Don't hang up right in the middle of the call, wait for the full message -- 'There's going to be a major attack...' 'Right, I got it.' 'No, wait...' ."

Near as I can tell, when God speaks to Pat Robertson, She mumbles. I can't think of any other reason why he can't get the facts straight.

I mean, in English at least, HOW do you confuse a prophecy of heavy floods with heavy rains? And if you DID hear clearly, how do you get off by saying that you're entitled to partial credit because you got heavy rains instead? Seems to me, naive fool that I am, the honorable thing to do is not claim partial credit but admit "I must have heard it wrong." (Oh come ON, John! An evangelist with HONOR?!)

Prophecy, for Robertson, is pretty much a no-win scenario unless he's right 100% of the time, no interpretation required. Y'see, if God actually spoke to him, He certainly has the power to speak clearly and unambiguously. In the absence of such unambiguity, God must not have spoken with him.

Contrariwise, if God, the Omniscient One, did, in fact, speak with Robertson clearly and unambiguously, then It isn't nearly as Omniscient as has been claimed for It.

And lastly, if God canNOT speak plainly and unambiguously so that a man can actually understand without being destroyed in the process, well then, He/She/It is not Omnipotent, as has been claimed.

This is just the damage that Robertson does for God's image. I've totally ignored the damage he does his own image as possibly being deluded or a liar instead of a man with a special pipeline to God.
