Okay, those who know me know I HATE coffee. Nothing that smells that good should taste that horrid.

Seattle seems to give off some strange radiation. Forcing people to drink cups and cups of the vile stuff. This explains Starbucks. Indeed, deep inside Starbucks first store is more than likely some strange eldritch object, vibrating like a caffinated elder sign, sending off wave upon wave of coffee energy, forcing people to drink the stuff. The stars in their logo more than likely transmitts it to other stores, but not at the same level that the mother store does.

How ELSE do you explain the fact that, while at Maximillien-In-The-Market, I drank TWO cups of the stuff????

*twitch*

Resistance is futile.. You will be assimiliated. Decaffinated is merely the begining!

I'm starting with single shot 16oz mochas with a flavor. Lots of sugar, lots of milk, lots of chocolate, not much coffee. But I'm pretty sensitive to caffeine, so it's enough for me. =)

You're just supporting local industry, that's a good thing right?

My pal Kal found himself chugging increasing amounts of coffee to get through the workday, and also trying to rid himself of a stubborn "bronchitis" problem. Yesterday he hauled himself into the doctor's office and left with a diagnosis of asthma, which he'd had as a child but not since.

Could this be widespread self-medication? Certainly the mold levels in that moist corner of the country would lend itself to a lot of allergy-related situations.

It is my firm belief that there is some kind of anti-moss agent in coffee, and that to live in the NorthWest and not get covered in moss, you must drink several servings of coffee each day. Trees and rocks do not drink coffee, and the get covered in moss up there. People do drink coffee, and for the most part, are not moss-covered. Q.E.D. :-)

JOhn.

These observations are correct, and support his hypothesis.

(Bwahahaaaa!)

One of us! One of us! Hehehehe!!!

Here in Jackson, Starbucks has started a hostile takeover with 6+ locations. We even have a store here in Pearl.

Really, their Sumatra blend isn't that bad. [livejournal.com profile] birdofparadox makes a mean cup of Turkish style coffee with it.

Add an insane amount of sugar and about 1/4 heavy cream.

It takes the bitter edge off.

Oh come ON...even if you don't like straight coffee, what about those carmel-choco-mocha-frappawhatsits at Starbucks?? Those taste more like rich carmel flavored hot chocolate than they do coffee... ^0^

Gee, I live in Seattle and I don't do coffee... I must be a mutant ;) Seattle's best does have a good coffee shake, if you get it half vanilla and half chocolate. Starbuck's burns their coffee though. It even smells bad :(

There are a few of us in the Northwest who don't drink coffee. I don't even care for the smell of it much, and the one time a friend tried to talk me into trying her mocha -- "you won't even be able to taste the coffee, honest!" -- I took one sip and told her, "I don't like burnt toast in my hot chocolate, thank you."

Tea is my caffeine of choice. Iced, mostly.

Oh, my yes... coffee can both be horrid and wonderful, it all depends. I wouldn't know, I've been drinking the stuff for 25 years. I have even gone so far as to bypass the coffee-maker and eat the beans straight, like peanuts.

Of course, everyone has their dislikes - if you had been going on about the evils of raspberries, I would have been right with you on that one.

Before I moved to WA, I sometimes drank iced mochas, decaf. Now I drink caffeinated hot mochas almost everyday. It helps to live in a city that's #4 on the list of top 10 cities with the most coffee restaurants per capita.
