While pricing things, today, I found a line of air matresses by Coleman.

Now, I admit I'm iffy about built-in pumps, but sure, okay.

And a built-in pump with an alarm clock makes some sense....

But why on earth did they think there was a need for an air matress with a speaker and plug for an iPod???

Another company had folding camp chairs with built in iPod speakers.....

So that you can fall asleep to your own music, regardless of where you are.

I wonder how good a sound-chamber an inflated air mattress is?

If you can't get comfortable on an air mattress (and generally, I can't), at least you can listen to your music...

It justifies another $15 on the pricetag.

It was more than 15 though - this ran about $59, and a Coleman air matress and pump set of the same size was $20.99

*Smile* Thank you for the kind offer, but I don't think it's gonna be needed :-)

I do listen to audiobooks to go to sleep to.

But depending on how powerful the speakers are that might cause me to want to fillet someone at the campground...

HOLY MOTHER OF PEARL! I WANT THAT!

Too bad I dumped a drink on my ipod in the car on my way home Saturday night. Consternation.

-=-=-=-

I have been using the double-thickness Coleman air matress at two wars now and it's worked like a champ. Don't bother with the built-in pump, I'm bringing the electric one and we have power at Potrero. Woot!

I've been using a triple-thick coleman on a bedframe at the flat right now, so yes, they're good. :-)

Dunno if I'll bring that, or my older Coleman to Potrero though

I suppose it would depend on how much bass you had in your playlist, and how powerful the woofer was.

Gives new meaning to "scaring the wildlife", I suppose.

Because they can. And because there are people in this world who, even though they may be in the wilderness, feel that the sounds of nature or the sound of silence isn't fulfilling enough and have to make their own noise. However, given some of the war sounds that I have heard over the decades [I am thinking of the all-night-long drumming from Rolling Thunder], having an iPod where I could cover up unpleasant war sounds might be a benefit.
