Was just settling down to sleep after a wonderful late night chat session with [livejournal.com profile] seattlejo......

.....when I hear a car roar by - followed by a BANGTHUD!

Got on pants, grabbed my first aid kit, bolted out the door. Grey range rover hit a parked car and spun over into another. Right front wheel collapsed, he's not going anywhere.

Check driver, he's shaken but okay. No airbag deployment, and driver is smelling a tad toasty.

Report to Monrovia PD. They're now on site. Get told "thank you, now go home". I get.

Whee......

10 out of 10 for reaction time. My sleep-habits would not allow me to react that quickly or clear-headedly.

But you didn't say how many people were standing outside with their cellphones, ignoring the man in the car. When we lived in West Covina, there were at least 3 accidents at our street corner, and the number of people standing around was amazing, since the first person to go and actually check on the (potential) injured was Red - who is not a trained medic, and has let his CPR training lapse, but was still able to tell who was badly hurt, who wasn't, and who to direct the cops and paramedics to.
