Saturday, I went to Caid's Crown Tourney with my 17-month old daughter, just the two of us. (mental note: bring a cart or stroller next-time. Trying to haul stuff from car to site w/ a busy little girl was.....interesting. Ah, the joys of being a part-time single parent.

Crown was fun, and really was the first major SCA event I've attended in sometime. Little bit at first was being very shy and clingy, even with people she knows. I suspect she was overwelmed at first by all the people and all the shiny things and colours and everything. She adjusted well though, and spent a large amount of time walking me around the place and playing "me do". Several people asked me how she was doing after her burn last month, (Pink, new skin, and rapidly healing is the answer.)

Bought her a teddy bear from one of the merchants. Visited people I haven't seen in a while.

Little bit ended up playing a couple of times with the 10-month old daughter of [livejournal.com profile] celticdragonfly and [livejournal.com profile] selenite. Which was fun to watch. She would hand her bear to their daughter, who would wave it around and hand it back to little bit. Who would wave it around some more and hand it back to the younger baby, and the cycle continued for a while. Two children, both developing language and fine muscle control, one a toddler, one starting to become such. They seemed to have had fun.

Blew part of my tax refund on a beautiful damascus steel dagger from Oso Forge. I'll have to take a picture and post it later. Sharp as blazes, with a black water buffalo handle.

Of course I had one problem. Oso doesn't make sheaths for his blades. So I had a beautiful dagger, very sharp, very pointed, and no way to safely transport it.

Solution? Wrap it in one of the diapers in little bit's travel bag. Worked like a charm. Certainly isn't the most hazardous material ever found in her diapers........

Overall, a quite nice day.

Sunday was quiet overall. Missed going to a friends house for circle, little bit decided to fall asleep just as I was about to leave, and I won't leave while she's asleep. (She fusses too much if I leave while asleep.)

Overall, a nice weekend.

Sounds like you had a really good daddy-daughter day. Good on you! :)

(An aside: any rumors at Crown re: fires at May Potrero?)

That'd be it, and just the info I'm looking for!

Thanks muchly; didn't see this from the Potrero County Park page.

I presume you're intending to pass on Potrero this year; if not, feel free to plant your banner with us. :)

I may go. It might just be me, myself, and I, but I might go. Many of my Altavian household will be going though, (tend to go to more events in Altavia than in the Peoples Republic of Calafia), so I'd be camping with them. But thanks for the offer.

Besides, Alpacus is trying to talk me into running battlefield chirurgeon operations. Which means the banner I'd have up wouldn't be my cat's paw device, but my red and white chirurgeon's banner. Which makes for annoying nighttime calls......

Um...

Chirurgeonate operations?

With Her Snittiness as part of the Calafian chirurgeonate?

I presume that this job involves a bodyguard...or is my info hopelessly outdated?

Good question. While the now-former KC had reinstated J's warrant, she's not the baronial chirurgeon. Matter of fact, it's the current baronial chirurgeon who asked me to be battlefield CiC. Go figure.

Last time I checked, neither her or R hold a position here in the People's Republic of Calafia either. Maybe we're all lucky and she's wandered away from the SCA

If she'd had the good sense to not try and cross me and mine, I'd have no beef with her.

As it is, as long as she leaves me alone and doesn't talk shit about us, I'm fine.
