GOP Backs Away From 'Not Gay' Idaho Senator
"Despite his defiant denials, Sen. Larry Craig is already suffering political damage from the scandal tied to his arrest in a men's bathroom.
The conservative Idaho Republican denied any misconduct Tuesday despite pleading guilty to a misdemeanor in connection with a men's room sting last June at the Minneapolis airport.
Craig also denied that he is gay and lashed out at his local newspaper, the Idaho Statesman, for what he called a "witch hunt."
The problem with this?
a) He already admitted he was guilty and paid the fine.
b) He's been outed before - several times.
c) He's consistantly backed anti-gay laws and bills.
At most, he's dishonest. My money is that he's a flaming hypocrite.

But then, no-one's accusing me of being gay, either.

Date: 2007-08-29 10:11 pm (UTC)Usually the person declaiming 'I'm not gay!' is the guy who climbs over the winter boots and pushes through the coats on the way out of the closet each day.
And according to an interview on NPR, the local paper in Boise chose NOT to run a story about the senator and his gay encounters, even though they had a credible source (a guy who claimed to have had a sexual relationship with the senator) - because they felt that it was better to give the senator the benefit of the doubt ... heh, guess they should have checked the airport bathroom stalls in Boise, or something.
But I'm sure there MUST be a hefty majority of conservative, Republican closeted gay men in Idaho who'd still vote for him ... er, hmmm ... think that would fit on a bumper sticker?

Pants on FIRE!
Date: 2007-08-30 05:03 pm (UTC)You made a punny.
The senator doth protest too much. But that's not a surprise from our Congress, is it?
QUACK, QUACK, QUACK!
