Utterly mercenary thought.

Toronto has had some outbreaks of SARS.

Which means tourism is down.

Which means airfare rates and room rates are possibly dropping.

WorldCon this year is in Toronto........

(Laugh) Can see a new Masquerade category for best costume incorporating medical face mask and level 1 biohazard gear.

You know, I'd really hate to be on their ConCom right now

Their concom is pretty much of the opinion that this will be done with by August, and if not, they'll deal with it closer to the time. (Apparently, about this far out from ConJose, there was great concern that there would be no power in CA for Worldcon, but that worked out OK.) Me, for reasons independent of SARS, I've decided not to go to APC or Worldcon this year, though I've got a supporting membership for Torcon so I can vote.
