It's bad enough when people like Rush Limbaugh calls military people who disagree with him "phony soldiers".
It's worse then he demonstratably goes and edits his transcripts to claim he "really meant something else".
But then, when actual veterans that *do* disagree with him call him on it, both Mr. Limbaugh and the rest of the Right Wing Talking Heads bemoan how these people who have "served their country honorably" have been lied to and misled by the Left Wing, like they're brainless dolts that have been led astray.
They can't seem to deal with the fact that the troops they use as props to show their so-called "support" may actually have minds and opinions that differ from their own.
Not surprising, since very few of these talking heads served in the military, and their false patriotism has been hiding a contempt for the military for years. (Any time I hear someone on the Right brag about how much they support and honor the troops, I remember the pictures from the 2004 GOP convention, and the purple heart band-aids people were wearing to mock Kerry's service and wounds. Where was the outcry then??)
Why is it that when anytime Limbaugh, O'Reilly, Hannity, Couter, or any of the other talking heads screw up, they play the victim card and insist that they didn't actually say what they were recorded as saying. Can't any of them man up and admit "yeah, I said that, I screwed up, I lied, I apologize"??
But no. They would rather play the victims of the cruel heartless left wing that are on the 10% of the media they don't control.

Date: 2007-10-08 01:16 am (UTC)The soldier in question was claiming to be a purple hearted veteran, yet the truth is that he only spent 44 days in the military, before getting thrown out. He didn't even didn't make it through boot camp, let alone see the action he claimed. This is why he was called a phony soldier.

And doesn't change the fact he called other former service people phony
And doesn't change the fact he said the veteran that did the VoteVets ad a "dupe" and compared him to a suicide bomber.
He only mentioned the fake soldier in question, (and let me be clear, I think that asshat is scum), minutes after the "phony soldier" comment.
