.....and make sure:

a) your shades are on
b) your sense of taste is set to "0"
c) you haven't eaten lately.

It's outtakes from the 1977 JC Penny's catalog! Thrill to colours not found in nature, collars the size of 747 wings, and terrycloth jumpsuits too.

All set? It's time for Buck Rodgers in the Polyester era!

Strap in, shut up and hold on. We're going back.

"This "all purpose jumpsuit" is, according to the description, equally appropriate for playing golf or simply relaxing around the house. Personally, I can't see wearing this unless you happen to be relaxing around your cell in D-block. Even then, the only reason you should put this thing on is because the warden forced you to at gunpoint."

After reading this, I'm having flashbacks to elementary school and.....well....the pain is too vivid

Whereas in 1977 I was in 6th grade. (However, I escaped High School with a diploma in 1982, so I wasn't too far behind)

I hesitate to say this, but you should see some of the pictures of me dressed up for school dances. Yes, I did wear a leasure suit. Yes, I did wear a powder-blue tux to the prom. No, I wouldn't go near that stuff these days. But we thought we were stylish then.

I really must find a picture and scan it of my dad in his silk patterned Disco shirt. Which he wore well into his sixties.

I really think that it will bring you bad karma to snicker at clothes worn in an earlier era. Just think, the clothes that you are wearing now will look just as silly 37 years from now. It is a good thing that that person didn't find a catalog from the '60s because they would really be rolling on the floor. I graduated from high school in 1969 and college in 1974, so a lot of my friends were wearing similar stuff .. well, perhaps not the plaid sports coats ... but that kid's outfit with the wide belt was straight out of the Brady Bunch. Fortunately, I had my own sense of style and by 1974 I was wearing medieval and renaissance garb.

Well, I *did* wear that kind of clothing during the 70's, so I suspect I have the right to tease about the styles then :-)
